Dr Ralph KuonMessage from the President:

 November 2009

On behalf of all our Membership, welcome to our Web-page.
We hope we can provide you not only with current information about us. Beyond that, we also hope we may convey to you the wonderful spirit that led to the creation of our Institution, that is, the strong sense of Community which characterized the soul of the Inka Empire, since ancient times; the same sense that even today makes Peruvians feel strongly about their motherland, our precious links to Her and therefore among all of us, children of such beautiful and prodigious country.
Peruvians living outside Peru were a rarity until the late XX Century. The rapid changes on the Planet and even more in our native country led a lot of us to live in other nations. United States of America, and by virtue of its neighborhood, Canada as well, behold the largest share of those Peruvians , and we call ourselves: “ living in the “FIFTH- SUYU”, (since the Inka Empire was divided in four regions or Suyus), adding up to over one million three hundred thousand individuals by the latest accounts.
Until the midst of the 80’s our people lived mostly grouped around Michigan, NY-NJ, Florida and California. Today there are Peruvians most anywhere in U.S. and also in the Easter Canada. Still, the largest communities remain but also Washington D.C., Seattle-Puget Sound, Mid-Western States, Texas, Atlanta, Utah and Idaho showed newer influx of compatriots.
One of our main goals is to be able to extend the community sense of togetherness to all our Peruvians compatriots throughout USA & Canada. And we welcome with open arms not only your membership, but mainly your cooperation to that main objective.
Additionally, the ever increasing international mobility and interchanges force us to be catalyzers for better living conditions for all of us, to create better opportunities for our children and to increase the sharing of educational, spiritual, professional and cultural values to preserve that part of us that may not only distinguish us, but also contribute to the richness of our current adopted motherland, the USA.
If that is successful, better ties and more assistance may also be created to help in the multiple needs of Peru and Peruvians living in Peru. We may reach a point where our contributions may not only help our closer relatives, but be extended to our whole motherland.
Come on Board please. Let us work together like brothers and sisters. Let us be strong…together. Let us be United through our Diversity, and let us enjoy being Peruvians in USA and Canada.

Yours truly,

Dr. Ralph Kuon
President
